As Biodynamic farmers, we see firsthand the health and vitality of our land and its ecosystems, but we usually don’t have the tools or expertise to measure that vitality. The Biodynamic Federation Demeter International (BFDI) has developed a system to quantify the benefits of ecosystem enrichment, including carbon sequestration and bio for mixed-use farms in Europe, and the BDA is spearheading a project to bring that capacity to this continent. In this presentation, Felix Hübner, Raw Material Specialist at BFDI’s head office, and Frederick Smith, Director of Economic Development for the BDA, will explore the program’s impact in Europe (where it is known as RegionWert), and its planned launch in North America.
