Hailing from a background deeply rooted in agriculture, Brian Wickert currently serves as the biodynamic resource consultant for Mercola Market, assisting the team in identifying biodynamic farmers and processors with a goal of facilitating the introduction of a wide range of biodynamic products to consumers and aiding farmers in their conversion to Demeter Certified Biodynamic® practices. While Wickert spent his formative years on a conventional corn, soybean and hog farm in Indiana, his fascination with anthroposophy, Waldorf Education and biodynamics was sparked after living in Seattle post-graduation from Purdue University, where he received a degree in agriculture economics.
Wickert’s contributions to the biodynamics community include co-founding the Viroqua Biodynamic Group in 1998, which specializes in producing field sprays and compost pile preparations. As the owner of Viroqua BD Supplies, he also supplies cow horns to biodynamic practitioners nationwide. He is an active member of esteemed organizations, such as the Fellowship of Preparation Makers and the Demeter Standards Committee. Wickert’s belief in building trust among farmers, processors and retailers centers on truthfulness, transparency and collaboration, and he looks forward to sharing his experiences and insights gained from working with Mercola Market's numerous brands to introduce new Demeter Certified products to the market.
